It's a New Year...Startluck (Note: New location!)

  • January 11, 2012 · 6:00 PM

--------------------------------Update!---------------------------------

We out-grew the Starbucks, so Triumph in Old City has graciously agreed to host us! Sorry to make a change so soon before the event, but there was no way we were all going to fit. :-)

The new location comes with some perks: Delicious food and a few drink specials for those so inclined. Triumph's a short walk from the 2nd & Market SEPTA stop (map), or if you are driving, there's free meter parking after 5pm on Wednesdays (info).

Please help us spread the word about the location change, if you know other people who are attending. Looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow evening!

Friends, 2011 has been a good year: 16 events, 250 members, and a whole lot of learning. To celebrate, let's gather for our first Startluck of 2012!

If you've never joined us for one of these events, here's what to expect:

A group of smart, inspired women gathering to talk shop about projects, ideas, networking, classes, learning, or whatever other topics inspire us.

It's the perfect place to make yourself accountable for that pet project you've resolved to complete in 2012. :-)

Wonderful to start the year with so many new faces in addition to familiar ones. Talented women with a wide variety of backgrounds, experiences, and ages. 2012's going to be great!

@Heather: Sorry you couldn't make it. Feel better soon!

@Meghan: Oops! Clearly I wasn't paying attention to the address options Meetup gave me when I typed in Triumph--sorry about that gals!

@Natasha: My reply's not so useful now, but for future reference, coming late is A-ok--Startlucks are pretty informal. :-)

Running late gals is that ok?

Hey there, just wanted to point out that Triumph is actually at 117 Chestnut Street, not 117 N. 2nd St. Looking forward to the meetup! :)

Sadly I'm not making this one. On antibiotics and MucinexDM. Blurgh! Looking forward to the next one and sorry for the last minute bail-out.

That's a great question, Colleen. I couldn't find any info anywhere on what a rush hour street is. The safest thing might be to feed the meter through 6:30pm so you're covered...

I was reading about the free meter parking. It says "On Wednesday evenings, meter parking is free in Center City after 5 p.m. (on the rush hour streets, it?s free after 6:30 p.m.). The boundaries are from the Delaware River to the Schuylkill River and from Bainbridge Street to Spring Garden Street."

How do I know if I park on a "rush hour street?" Anyone know?

Hi Erin, we try to do Startlucks about once a month, depending on what else is going on in our group and in the rest of the Philly tech community. Hope to see you at an event soon! :-)

Hey so I'm still hoping to come. The venue change is no big deal. But I AM fighting a chest cold so if my lovely coughing fits don't subside, I might miss this one but please please please keep me posted on the next. Y'know, IF I miss. :D

Is it okay if I arrive a little bit later? :) I hate to be that girl... but... I gotta be "that girl"!

Hmm, that's weird. Thanks for the update, Jeanne. See you Wednesday! :-)

H! My friend can't make it, so am NOT bringing a guest, but, for a reason I don't know, the site won't let me change my RSVP.

Hey Heather! We originally conceived of Startlucks as potluck picnics (which we did over the summer). Now that the weather is cooler, we've started gathering at coffeeshops. So your impulse was spot-on, the circumstances just changed. :-) Looking forward to meeting you!

If anyone has ideas for places we could gather where we could bring food, we'd love to hear them!

Hey! So "Startluck" makes me think of "Potluck" which makes me feel I should bring something? But it's at a consumery so... Am I just being dense and what one brings is ideas and positive attitude as opposed to lemon bars or pigs in blankets? It'll be my first Startluck so I don't want to misstep before I've even arrived! :D

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
