To be fair I wanted to post Nathan’s response. I
promise to try to avoid this kind of conversation in the future.

I am sorry you are receiving complaints. For any
market research study we must test a very specific set of demographics as
determined by our client's needs and area of focus. For this reason, we have a
recruiting questionnaire which determines whether people qualify or not.
Sometimes qualification can depend on general demographics (i.e. Age, annual
income, education, etc.) Most of our studies have more specific sets of
criteria as well designed to target users of the particular material we are
testing.
This most recent study dealt with a travel website and so
people had to be frequent travelers. If someone completed the screener and was
not given a chance to sign up for the study, then they either did not qualify,
or the group which they did qualify for was already full. The latter is likely
as Friday was the last day of testing for this study.
Just because someone does not qualify for one
particular study, certainly does not mean they won't qualify for another one.
This is why we inform people about upcoming studies even if they previously
didn't qualify.
99.9% of the time people enjoy this feature. If they
signed up in the first place then they were interested in participating and
like any opportunity
they receive to participate in the future.
Why someone would be getting "spams of testing
opportunities since then" is somewhat of a mystery to me. We only send
out such emails if a new study has opened up in your area and we don't have any
more studies going on in the Houston area at this time. So any email they
would have received to this effect would be a mistake. If someone wishes to
stop receive emails they can do one of two things. Either email me back with
their full name and I would be happy to take them out of the system, or they
can log into their account (eyetracking.com/signup) and select "do not
notify me about future studies" under their contact information. The
latter can be slightly annoying to accomplish as it may ask some additional
general information questions before presenting the opportunity to login. (this
is a bug we are working on.)
To answer the remaining questions: I am real, My
last name is Meixler, and plenty of people know me, however, I don't think I
know anyone in Houston. We are a bonna fide research company, not a spam
factory, and rest assured that none of the information collected during the
screening process in shared in anyway with ANY outside source. It is all used
ONLY internally for project recruiting. I hope this answers all your
questions, I would be happy to answer any more as they come up. Thanks again
in your help,I am sorry that you received complaints.
Cheers,
Nathan
