Everglades Trip Update

hey Gang,

Here's and update on the Everglades Trip.

I just made a reservation for Thursday night for Collier Seminole State Park. This is about 25 min away from the the Ranger Station at Everglades City. It's only $24/night and can fit 8 people. Perfect for us. There are showers and bath to freshen up with. Our site number is #6. Thanks Krysta for getting this done.

I'm happy to announce that Fawn is now on board and coming so we have a very manageable 6 coming.

A note about carpooling. Not everyone can ride in a car. Someone has to drive down. So were still figuring that out. Also the trip did not include the gas for on the way down or accomodations for Thurday night. So we will all pitch in for these, so bring some cash with you.

The Weather is going to be very nice and even a hi of 80 everyday down there. Yipee!

A note about tides:

Tides are always slow to begin with and pick up speed towards the end. They are usually 6 hours apart from Hi-Low-Hi-Low, unless a full moon, Neap Tides or other. The Ten Thousand Islands can be slightly or more different due to the many islands the water has to pass through. Things that effect tides are weather, winds, obstacle in their way, lunar cycles. In this area of Florida you must pay special attention to the tides and plan your trip accordingly. We have and here it is:

Winds SW 8-16 mph

Hi Tide - 7 am We want the kayaks packed up and put-in behind the ranger station into Chokoloskee Bay about 10 am. The tide will take us out through Sandfly Pass on to Rabbit Key or Pavillion Key. We should get through the pass around 12- 12-30pm
Low - 1pm
Hi - 6:40 pm

Winds- NE 8 mph

Low Tide - 3 am
Hi - 8:34 am
Low- 1:16 pm
Hi-7:12 pm

Low Tide - 4:20 am
Hi - 10:21 am We should be packed and in the water by about 10:30am
Low- 2 pm
Hi-8:12 pm

Cheers and we'll see you on Thursday night at 6pm.
