Multimedia on Wikipedia

Hi! Live video stream will start around 7pm at
You can ask questions / share feedback at #wikimedia-office IRC

We will show you our latest demos and discuss with you how to create a better multimedia experience on Wikipedia and its sister sites.

We will start our meeting by presenting a vision for multimedia in 2016 and ask you how we can improve it. We will then demo and discuss these new projects together:

  • media viewer
  • file feedback
  • new video formats
  • campaign tools

Here's our proposed agenda for this hour-long meeting:

  • 6:30 pm - Door open. Pizza and drinks.
  • 7:00 pm - Introductions
  • 7:15 pm - Multimedia vision
  • 7:30 pm - New projects
  • 8:00 pm - Group discussion ends
  • 8:30 pm - Meetup ends

As a group, we will brainstorm new ways to view, contribute, curate, discover and use media files on Wikipedia, and grow our audio-visual knowledge base in the process.

This is a great opportunity to meet our developers and network with other like-minded community members.

Look forward to seeing you then!

Fabrice Florin and Mark Holmquist
Multimedia Team

P.S.: If you can't wait and want a sneak peek at what we're working on, take a look at our new Media Viewer:
