Wiknic! A Wiki Picnic
Details
It's time for a picnic! The New England Wikimedians Picnic, the "picnic anyone can edit", will be held in Boston Common (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boston_Common) on Saturday July 16 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/July_16), 2016, as part of the Great American Wiknic (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Wiknic) celebrations being held across the USA. All are welcome: experienced Wikipedians, new Wikipedians, and people who are not yet Wikipedians!
The picnic will last from 1 PM to 5 PM (though of course if people want to stay later they can!). We will meet in the public garden, near the Wendell Phillips statue.
UPDATE: this weekend is also the Out of the Box Festival on the Boston Common, so it may be crowded! We are moving to the public garden. Look for the Wikipedia banner and text Phoebe (see wiki page) if you get lost.
This is a potluck so please bring something to eat or drink, and also bring a friend!
We will eat, have fun in the sun (feel free to bring games, frisbees etc) and talk about Wikipedia.
Also, starting around 2pm we will also have a discussion about the New England user group and our plans for the coming year, including group leadership. The current group leaders, Amanda and Maia, would like to pass the torch on to new people -- so, if you are interested in having a leadership role, please consider volunteering!
The responsibilities are light and involve:
- facilitating recurring meetups and helping publicize events
- filling out a little paperwork and reporting, and facilitating the choice of a representative to the Wikimedia conference in Berlin.
