"The Minnesota Wine Meetup" Message Board › Update for Saturdays Cannon Falls Winery Tasting
We have only FOUR spots left for this Saturday for a Winery that is over an hour away, for some of us… WOW!
Recently when talking with a winery we found out we are the only Meet-up group they may allow to reserve for a tasting in the future. We expect to have over 25% of our group at Cannon Falls; a few groups NEVER have 5% sign-up. And we typically have over 90% show-up about triple what many groups have. Thank you regulars and welcome newbie’s. We have a great group thanks to all!
That said we keep on growing and in two years we have NEVER said no to anyone that wanted to attend an event. BUT we won’t go over 50 people at an event so we can chat with each of you. Yes we are a stickler about sign-ups & show ups. Starting at this event we will have a 24-hour RSVP/No-show policy. If you change your RSVP to NO with less then 24 hours before the event it will be counted as a no-show, that allows anyone on a waiting list, a days notice to attend.
Things to know for this Saturday:
Cannon Falls Winery currently has 19 wines available! We have exchanged a handful of emails with them and have agreed upon a tasting of about 5 wines for $5.
That will allow for a shorter tasting time and more time to talk over I’m sure the 19 bottles of wine people in our group will end up buying so we can try them all. Typically a bottle of wine to share with the group is about $15 if you want to be a REAL NICE PERSON!
So Ellen & I will greet everyone that arrives at 1 with a tasting at about 1:15 for about a half an hour. Tunes start at 2 PM. We’ll have tables for the food, but we told the winery, chairs for everyone is not a requirement… we all sit enough during the week! And besides it’s a great place to walk around.
We all like to bring food to pair with our wines. Tastes great and can calm down the alcohol. Ellen and I will bring our cool wine plates that hold a wine glass & food. If you are new to our events, finger foods work the best: cheeses, meats, crackers, fruit, and chocolates. We normally have a LOT of GREAT FOOD!
We will have name tags for EVERYONE we KNOW. Which means if you are bringing a guest and their name is not on your RSVP or we already know them as a spouse or regular, please click change your RSVP and add their name in the text.
A name get’s you past the first step of meeting people, but knowing someone’s occupation or your guests, NOT where they work, can help you get a conversation started. If we don’t know your occupation or it’s not on your profile for our group, it sure would help you meet people if we had it on your name tag.
I think that handles it all.
Get back to us with any questions.
And change your RSVP early if you can’t make it!
See you Saturday,
Dennis & Ellen
