ALT.NET - The MEAN Stack (MongoDB, ExpressJS, AngularJS and Node.js)

We realize this is not a .net technology but a few of us .net devs are very interested in javascript and using it end to end. If you've heard of the stack and want to know a little more, come join us. If you are using the MEAN Stack or parts of it, bring what you have so we can learn from each other.

OST has graciously opened up their space, and offered to supply the food and beverages for this meetup. A HUGE thanks to them!

Put a blog post that has links for the slides and the source code for the project for anyone who's interested. http://words-async.com/2013/09/27/unapologetically-mean/

Thanks for a great presentation @Jason Sich! Seeing the scaffolding of both sides of your app was really helpful for understanding some of the decisions involved.

Being more on client facing, liaison roles, I am starting to see the similarities and diffs using various languages and frameworks...think Jasons real, live coding helped me as well.

I was hoping to gain some insight into using node in a production environment (load balancing, reverse proxies, etc). Also, examples of a multi-auth setup using passport.js would be highly appreciated. Looking forward to it!

@Philip, you might want to chat with Jason Sich tonight after the main talk. He has a node/angular app out in production, and I believe its utilizing passport.

Because of the number of people interested, and the vastness of the subject, we have decided that this first meeting would better serve if we did an overview of MEAN and then find out what specifics we are all interested in learning/showing at a later date. Jason Sich has offered to do this first session on “Why the MEAN Stack”. Afterwards we can discuss how deep and in what direction to head. Thank you Jason, and I look forward to seeing you all at this first ALT.net focused meetup.

I'm very excited to see our first official ALT.NET special interest group coming together!

I'll add this just so expectations are set properly. We will not be doing a formal talk about the MEAN Stack. This will be a low key "show and tell" to find out what people are doing, how they are doing it. If you have something that worked (or didn't work), please bring it.
