WordPress + CiviCRM :: how to CRM in WP + how to Integrate 3rd Party Apps w/ WP

Thanks to all our sponsors, including ParkMe for sponsoring tonight's event. If you are driving, please use ParkMe’s parking maps to help you with parking. You can find parking near Automattic by clicking here, or you can use their mobile apps for iPhone and Android.

At this April's Meetup, Dave Greenberg and Donald Lobo from CiviCRM are coming to speak to us about CiviCRM + WordPress.

The CiviCRM team has for the last year been working on integrating their open source CRM solution with WordPress. There's a ton to be learned from their experience:

  • Are you a techie interested in how other apps can integrate with WordPress? CiviCRM will talk about some of the details of how they did a WordPress + CiviCRM application integration -- lessons learned, technical tips, tricks and gotchyas, how they used the WordPress API, etc.
  • Are you less-techie, but interested in doing CRM inside WordPress? Great! CiviCRM will show you how CiviCRM and WordPress play nice-nice together.

So if you're relatively technical and interested in general WordPress + XYZ integrations, this will be an excellent case study to learn from. If you're less technical and more customer focused, this will be a great way to learn about an integrated WordPress platform that does constituent tracking, fund-raising, memberships, event registration and more.

After an initial CiviCRM presentation we'll probably break into two groups -- one focused more on the "user" side of CiviCRM + WordPress, and one focused more on the technical side of how CiviCRM integrated their app with WordPress.

If you'd like to learn more about CiviCRM and/or demo CiviCRM + WordPress before the Meetup, please check out these links:

NOTE: April's Meetup will be our first in Automattic's beautiful new home on Hawthorne Lane! Wooooot! Please take note the address.

Interesting talk. Has anyone had any real-world success in setting this up on a Wordpress site? It stumped myself and my host's support. Not that hard to do admittedly, but I am curious to run the thing and we couldn't get it to log on to MySQL.

Really enjoyed meeting folks and sharing info about WP + CiviCRM last night. Join us tomorrow at CiviCon in Berkeley if you want to learn more and take a look at the cool things folks are doing with CiviCRM: http://sf2013.civicrm.org/

just curious i have a client which was interested in CRM but this particular solution seems to be geared more towards charity and non-profit does anyone know if this works as a traditional CRM as well?

Looking forward to it. We (www.pubble.co) are building a Q&A plugin for Wordpress, and we'd love your feedback on how to make it connect with CiviCRM http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/pubble-social-qa/

    Looking forward to it.

I'm also looking for WordPress help on a personal project as well as possibly putting together a team of WordPress developers to target independent health professionals. I'll be looking for folks that could fit that description at the meetup, but I'm sure I won't be able to meet everyone who either qualifies or might be interested. If that's you, please feel free to contact me directly.
