Salon.com's tricked-the-f-out WordPress install

  • Jan 30, 2012 · 6:00 PM

Those of you who are Meetup Regulars have gotten a taste of Salon.com's WordPress awesomeness -- they demoed at the last two SpeedGeeking events.

If you're anything like me, those 7m speedgeek Salon.com sessions left you very intrigued and aching for more!

Well friends, Ache No More! Ibrahim Madha and Jason Chelliah two one of the WordPress leads at Salon will be presenting on the custom "shadow post / taxonomy" functionality they teased us with in November, as well as any other WordPress tricktasticness they want to blow our minds with.

Given that Salon.com is a high profile site, we're expecting this to be a relatively popular Meetup. We're limiting attendees to 60 because we reconfigured our office and don't want to try and cram 100 in again.

So please:

- RSVP yes if you can make it
- Save the spot for someone else if you can't
- If you do RSVP yes and your plans change, please do us the courtesy of changing your RSVP to open up a spot for someone else
- We've turned off guests. If you want to bring someone, just have them RSVP themselves on Meetup.com.

Looking forward to seeing you all on January 30!

-Zach, Beau, Dave, Shannon, Aaron, and the WPSFO gang.

PS: sorry I still haven't posted the SpeedGeek videos to wpsfo.org. I'll try and get that done this week!!

I got some useful ideas out of it. This was my first meeting, and tho I don't have a lot of experience with WP it was great to find out that there is a vibrant community in this area.

Great presentation and insightful Q&A. I'm already taking some ideas from Salon.com's WP install back to my sites. It's really helpful to see what's possible with WP beyond my narrow focus.

Thanks to Exygy for hosting, Salon.com for presenting an *amazing* installation of WordPress, and Automattic for pizza.

So sad I found this 10 minutes after it started and not a few weeks ago, looking forward to attending a future session!

Hi Darren -- we don't specifically have A/V equipment to get a high quality recording of tonight, but we'll see if we can scratch anything together.

Will there be video of this event for the many people unable to attend?
