July WordPress Meetup

Happy July! We have two speakers this month. The talks will be a bit more user focused, rather than developer-focused like last month, and they should be pretty interesting!

Kevin Koehler is a Happiness Engineer at Automattic, the parent company of WordPress.com. Every week, they respond to dozens of takedown notices and legal threats against bloggers. He'll be talking about the often-misunderstood world of copyright on the web, particularly as it applies to independent publishers.

Russell is the lead developer at the Pew Research Center. His talk is titled "How I Spent the last 5 years playing with WordPress and Building PewResearch.org” It will cover why they chose WordPress to power their stable of sites, some of the challenges he encountered, and show off some of the behind-the-scenes tools he built for the nationally recognized research organization.
