September WordPress Meetup: RWD with Sass & Beginners to Warriors

Details
Happy September everyone!
This month, we'll be having two amazing talks. One about how Sass can improve your responsive workflow, and another for all you beginners out there looking to level up your WordPress skills.
Building RWD with Sass
Tracy Rotton
If you're building responsive websites, then you need to know how Sass can help. We'll look at some of the features that will make your RWD life much easier including: media query bubbling; mixins for creating breakpoints; when you can & can't use @extend; and Sass libraries that will cut hours from your development time. This is a preview of my upcoming talk at CSS Dev Conf, October 13-15 in New Orleans, LA.
About Tracy
Tracy Rotton is a front-end web developer specializing in theming for PHP-based platforms, especially WordPress. Tracy began her professional development career in 1996 and has worked on websites for organizations such as Marriott International, the Discovery Channel, the Webby Awards and the federal government. You can follow her on Twitter using @taupecat (http://twitter.com/taupecat).
Leveling Up: From Bashful Beginner to WordPress Warrior
Beth Soderberg, Courtney O’Callaghan
You’ve been managing content in WordPress, maybe you’ve dabbled with modifying a file, but you’re not sure where to go from here (other than total failure). In this session we’ll cover how to transition from dabbler to budding developer, learning opportunities around the web, and issues that can impact your learning, ranging from imposter syndrome to gender and generalisms to non-computer science educational backgrounds.
About Beth
I am currently a Front End Developer at APCO Worldwide in Washington, DC. My happy place is where art and code intersect. I’m a self taught developer and I believe everyone should feel empowered in their dealings with the internet. Also, I’m a cat mom, politico, painter, and proud herbivore.
About Courtney Who I am … professional listener, amateur teacher, vegetarian mom, animal caretaker, people watcher, culture enthusiast, off-hours feminist, book hoarder, designer/coder/other, Chief Digital Officer at Freer and Sackler Galleries, CA native, proud DC resident – but it needs an ocean.
Sponsors This month, we'll be graciously hosted by Canvas.co/work (http://canvas.co/work) again. RP3 (http://rp3agency.com) will also be returning as the food/drink sponsor.
Due to space constraints, we're capping the RSVP limit at 80. So be sure to keep your RSVPs up-to-date to free up space for as many people as possible.
