This talk includes lessons for beginners learning WordPress on their own and trying to make sense of where to go and what they need to know. It will end with some resources and sneak peaks of the JavaScript for WordPress Master Courses and insights on learning JavaScript for WordPress.

Zac is an experienced WordPress educator who many folks know as the WordPress Teacher from Treehouse. He has been part of the DC community since WordPress version 2.0 and is excited to be back with everyone at the DC WordPress meetup. More and more people try freelancing but many never make it: not because they do bad work, but because they fail at running a business. Most of the mistakes are self-inflicted and can be avoided. This talk covers the three keys to freelancers' long-term business success: 1) Staying on top of the finances, 2) Taking care of one's self and 3) Understanding when to pay a pro.

Antti is a Washington, DC -based WordPress developer, who's learned all of the three keys more or less the hard way while running a small business since 2011. While the talk is designed for current and aspiring freelancers, many of the concepts are applicable to employees as well."
