January 2012 Meetup: WordPress 3.3

Details

December brought us WordPress 3.3 “Sonny” in honor of jazz saxophonist Sonny Stitt. For our first meetup of the new year on Tuesday, January 10, we are going to be having an event centered on WordPress 3.3.

As the development of 3.3 began nearly six months ago, WordPress founder Matt Mullenweg entertained our meetup group with a lively discussion around what should be included in future versions of WordPress. We still have that list, and WordPress core developer Andrew Nacin will reflect on it as he guides us through version 3.3 and what is already in store for version 3.4.

After that, we will help you update to the latest version of WordPress (version 3.3.1, as of yesterday) so that you can take advantage of all the latest and greatest features you hear about.

Have you already updated to 3.3.1? Join us to help others update or get some help yourself. Want to tweak your theme? Tricky configuration question? Plugin issues? We'll try to help.

Join us at 7 PM on January 10, 2012 at Fathom Creative to kick off the new year, WordPress-style.

If you can, please bring some beer to restock the rolling meetup supply. We're planning to have pizza this evening, but we'll need a sponsor to step up. Please contact Aaron (aaron@jorb.in) or Nacin (nacin@wordpress.org) if you or your organization is interested.

We hope to announce the February meetup topic and date (there seems to be something else going on the second tuesday) in the next few days. If you are interested in presenting at this or any future meetups, let us know.
