PLEASE BE ADVISED: Our membership is currently at capacity. Prospective members will be added to a waiting list and contacted only if openings become available.
We started Write Inside the Loop because we wanted to connect with other Greater Houston Area fiction* writers.
The purpose of Write Inside the Loop is to provide a centralized environment right inside the 610 Loop where serious short story writers, novelists, or memoirists can gather bi-monthly to exchange feedback and encouragement.
If you are a serious writer of short stories, novels, or memoirs who is able to commit to meeting every other week within the 610 Loop during daytime hours, please join us! Our group meets every other Thursday at 1:00 p.m.
How WITL works: The manuscripts of up to two regularly attending members are featured at each meeting. Each featured writer is allotted approximately one hour to receive feedback and advice from the other members. Everyone is expected to engage in the meeting by reading the manuscript in advance, bringing a digital or hardcopy of the manuscript to the meeting, and contributing to the discussion in a constructive manner. For a helpful credo for providing constructive criticism, please refer to our Files. At the end of each meeting, everyone decides which writers will be featured at the next meeting.
Active participation in WITL is mandatory. In order for WITL to benefit everyone, members should attend on a semi-regular basis (we think at least one meeting per month is fair). Please keep in mind that if you are approved for membership in WITL, but fail to attend a meeting within one month of joining, your membership will be revoked without notice.
Annual (January) Membership Dues: $25 (cash or check). Dues are non-refundable.
* While Write Inside the Loop does not focus on poetry, screenplay, or non-fiction (excluding memoir) writing, there are a number of other groups on Meetup who do.
New members must be approved by the Organizer

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
