Permaculture Meet-up July Garden Tour

Join the Monadnock Permaculture Group for a tour of two gardens in the Emerson Brook Forest. Both gardens are permaculture works in progress. The garden at the Sustainability Project's wheelchair accessible center, designed by permaculture specialist and author, Dave Jacke and a crew of workshop participants in 2008, has well established plants; many beginning to bear fruit and nuts. The other garden is a first-year garden designed by Pablo and Valerie at their homestead.

Hello Everyone! I'm looking forward to seeing those of you who are able to join us for our monthly meeting in the Emerson Brook Forest. Our forest center got hit pretty hard during the flooding last week and I was concerned that we might need to postpone. However, Pablo and I worked with local heavy equipment operator, George Gilman to "flood proof" the center for the long haul. The road above our center had been increasingly setting us up for costly repairs and erosion control. We trimmed trees and brush and trenched the road edge, cleaned out one culvert and installed another and lastly gave the road a "crown." (Which it deserved!) The center looks great and it feels safe to say we're back on schedule to host our Wednesday meeting.

We'll meet up at the center (57 Emerson Brook Drive) at 6:30 and then head down the hill to the Piedmont Fleischmann Homestead (26 Emerson Brook Drive) for a garden tour and some poppy seed cake and ice cream. I hope you can join in.
