Everyone - the sushi class went very well (I'm sure the sushi students would agree) but we had three people committed to seats that were no-shows. So a lot of unused, cooked rice and veggies were uneaten at the end...and totally wasted. From now on, for our meetup sushi classes, sushi students will have to pay for their seats in advance in order to secure a seat. Setting up a full sushi class for our group takes $$ and a lot of time to prepare everything in advance. It's a shame when people commit to seats and merely disregard their interest right before the class. Sorry - but we can't lose money and waste food for absolutely no reason.

Carl: that's a really good idea. Many meetup groups are just wishy-washy with their committments. Any class of that kind of investment in your time and effort needs to ensure that interested parties keep their word. It's a total shame for good food to go into the trash because some people simply can't follow through. :(
