Seattle Meeting: Architecture for Code Reuse; iOS View Controller Containment

Details

This month's Seattle monthly meeting has two presentations.

Hal Mueller (@halm) discusses lessons learned for code reuse, based on a port of a vessel tracking application from OS X to iOS. Almost all of the Model, Core Data, and MapKit code was reused unchanged on the iOS project.

Tim Ekl's (@lithium3141) topic is iOS View Controller Containment. He will present an introduction to containment API, strategies, and best practices for composing view controllers in iOS 8.

The meeting is at The OmniGroup just north of the corner of Aloha St, on the east side. The building's garage closes at 6pm; neighborhood street parking is free after 6pm. Please be in the lobby by 6:55. Elevator escort ends at 7. Late arrivals cannot be accommodated.

The building is accessible via the 26 and 28 buses which stop out front, and the 40 which stops two blocks to the east on Westlake. It's slightly less accessible via the 5 and 16—if taking the bus from the north, get off at Galer St and use the pedestrian bridge. If taking the bus from the south, get off at Prospect St. Or better yet take the 26, 28, or 40 when coming from downtown if at all possible.
