As an attendee of regular evening meditation at Empty Gate Zen Center in Berkeley, I realized the need for late-morning or mid-day practice for people who want to meditate in a formal setting but can't make the typical early morning or evening sessions (630am & 7pm). The resident monk at Empty Gate Zen Center is willing to lead mid-day sessions as long as I can round up enough people (4 or 5 minimum) to make it worth his time. And so this group was born to solicit interest.
The first proposal is to have weekly 1-hour sessions on Fridays at 11:30am. Other days could be added based on people's scheduling preferences, so please feel free to suggest other days & times between 930am & noon. Please don't call or email Empty Gate directly about these sessions yet, since it is to be handled by me until it settles into a predictable schedule for them.
Practice will likely consist of silent sitting & walking meditation, possibly chanting, with a Q&A session. For more info on the various practice forms, please visit www.zen510.org
This is the first of what we hope will turn into weekly sessions Fridays @ 11:30am for 60 to 75 minutes at Empty Gate Zen Center (www.emptygatezen.com). May expand to 2 times per week, late-morning or mid-day, pending committed interest from at least 5 people.
There is no cost! Some people leave a small donation at the Zen Center, but this is not assumed, expected or required.
