The Praxis, ZS, Cryonics & Longevity

There will be a small meeting upstairs at the Queen’s Larder this Saturday afternoon, to discuss the relevance of The Praxis (links below) to Zero State and the Wave movement. The Praxis is a new spiritual paradigm for Futurists and Transhumanists, compatible with religious ideas such as the Turing Church and Mormon Transhumanism.

(EDIT: Someone has just explained that they wish they had more information about the Praxis. Unfortunately that's tricky to do unless you've read the book at this stage, but here's a quick stab at it: Futurist spirituality that doesn't rely on claims contradictory to science, with a big emphasis on cryonics and committing to bring people back from stasis if at all possible. We'll explain the essential ideas at the meeting, answer all questions that are asked, and then explore the implications of these ideas from ZS, cryonicist, and longevity activist points of view. A point of particular relevance to ZS concerns is the emphasis the Praxis places on cryonics and dedication to reanimating cryogenically preserved Praxis adherents in the future, by technological means, should that become possible. Cryonics can be considered to complement Life Extension efforts pursued by various groups endorsed by Zero State, and we want to promote synergy between different like-minded groups that might be expected to benefit all involved. Through its association with Zero State and Longevity Party UK, this event is part of International Longevity Day.

This is intended as a small, intense, interactive meeting… a workshop more than any kind of planned presentation. Those who attend will be encouraged to get involved and offer views. On the one hand, we will be considering the relationship between Praxis ideas and Futurism, including possible connections with and support for Zero State and Life Extension groups. On the other hand, we will also be talking about possible relationships between the Praxis and neo-pagan and magical points of view. We will also examine the constraints on any ZS / Praxis relationship imposed by the Wave Principles (http://doctrinezero.com), such as our rule against advocating demonstrably false points of view, and discuss the possibility of forming the first Praxis group among Zero State members based in London.

There will be no charge for attending the meeting, but attendees will be asked to consider making a small donation toward our costs.
