This idea came up on the mailing lists that we should have regular meetups to discuss user issues, roadmaps and releases. This is the first user/dev meetup that will be hosted at Yahoo! (Thanks to Ben). We will be discussing Roadmap for 3.4 and coming up 3.5 (http://zookeeper.markmail.org/thread/y54f7n6ggmycfqy7).

Here is a detailed agenda for the meetup. We will start at 2:00 pm and hopefully end sometime before 7:00 pm. We will start with a couple of talks and then discussion on Roadmaps/Issues.

2:00 - 2:30 - ZK-107: Dynamic reconfiguration for Zookeeper by Alexander Shraer (Yahoo!)

2:30 - 3:00 - Curator talk by Jordan Zimmerman (Netflix)

3:00 - 3:30 - ZooKeeper and Security by Thomas Weise (Yahoo!) and Eugene Koontz (Trend Micro)

3:30 - 4:00 - ZooKeeper Issues and development at Facebook (Vishal)

4:00 - 5:00 - RoadMap for 3.5. Here is what Pat had brought up on the list:

  • scalability - 100k clients
  • jdk7 and openjdk support (jdk7 job now onhttps://builds.apache.org//view/S-Z/view/ZooKeeper/)
  • maven build/rel (ZOOKEEPER-1078) - much of the work is done on this,
    patch pending
  • audit logging (ZOOKEEPER-1260)
  • reduce memory usage (ZOOKEEPER-1177 is one example)
  • improve reliability - more testing, aspects (ZOOKEEPER-1364)
  • test improvements; cleanup, streamlining/categorization (test vs test-commit ZOOKEEPER-1363)

5:00 - 6:00 User Issues? Open ideas? Suggestions?
