Kyoto English Book Club Meetup to discuss "Under the Eye of a Big Bird".

1. We'll discuss "Under the Eye of a Big Bird by Hiromi Kawakami. (about 285 pages long)
About the book: It is a speculative novel set in the future where humanity is on the verge of extinction. It follows scattered, isolated communities adapting to survive under the observation of enigmatic caretaker figurers known as "Mothers" and "Watchers".
It has been highly acclaimed and short listed for the International Booker Prize.
2. Participants are asked to have either read the whole book or at least
one third of it before the meetup.
3. We'll meet on July 12th. The meetup is to start at 14:00 jst. The participants are expected to come to the venue a few minutes before we officially start at 14:00.
4. The venue is "Cafe Veloce Karasuma Takoyakushi" a big coffee shop near to Shijo Subway Station. It is alongside Karasuma-dohri (Karasuma Street).
5. What to discuss: our discussion will start off on discussion points(questions) related to the story, which are pre-prepared by the organizer/co-organizer. Then we will move on to your general impression of the story, what parts were difficult to understand, how you liked the story, and so on. Our discussion will be entirely conducted in English.
6. After you sign up for the meetup, please try to get you copy of the book as soon as you can—-unless you would like a kindle/digital copy. This is because a physical copy for this particular book might take about a few weeks to be delivered to you.
