Let's explore this 11.0-mile out-and-back trail near Ward, Colorado. We snowshoed last year but did not finish the whole route due to high wind. The view was incredible we wanted to try it again this year, ski goggle and mask will be helpful. :)

• SEASONAL ROAD CLOSURE: Roads leading to this trailhead are subject to seasonal closure. From mid-October to mid-June the road to this trailhead is closed. Parking is available outside the closed gate at the Gateway Trailhead, which will add mileage to your trip. For more information, please visit: https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/arp/recarea/?recid=28182 This is the winter route for the Lake Isabelle Trail. This route is different than the summer one because from mid-October to mid-June, the road through the Brainard Lake Recreation Area is closed. This trail starts outside the closed gate at the Gateway Trailhead. There is no entry fee for this trail, as it starts outside of the entrance gate.
