The user is not like you! Although this mantra holds true regardless of the context you are working in, some times you need to design for users who are experts in complex situations. You need to understand the process they rely on, the environment they work in, the culture that defines their decisions and the sequence of everything they do. You may need to even convince them to change the process they rely on. This session will introduce the methods used to gather, organize and understand user research data when you need to go very deep into the user's process. We will discuss what it means to evaluate, redesign and replace core aspects of processes that are used.
