Festive Potluck Dinner Friday Dec 7
Details
Join us for a festive potluck dinner on Friday, December 7 from6-9 pm atHoly Cross Lutheran Church for yummy food, sharing, and a good time!
Please bring a favourite dish to share. We have full use of the church kitchen and are able to keep dishes warm if necessary. As ‘many hands make light work’ please let us know by Nov 30 if you can help with set up and/or clean up for our festive dinner. Thanks!
After dinner, we’re excited to present a screening of Being Your True Nature, a short 15 min documentary filmed by Osel Hita & Matteo Passigato. This film was commissioned by the Foundation for Developing Compassion and Wisdom and shot in France in 2011 at the first international Gathering of this group. The film introduces a new form of universal education originally envisioned by Lama Yeshe, the founder of our organization. Lama Yeshe’s initiative was to create a happier and more peaceful world by helping people of all ages, cultures and traditionsto develop their natural compassion and wisdom. In making this film, Osel Hita placed a particular emphasis on helping young people find happiness and satisfaction, as he felt they would have a huge impact on the world in the future. Come and see the new ways in which to discover the true nature of our being.
Also, this year we are supporting Halsey Lodge, a facility that is home to 50 residents with special needs (31 men/19 women between the ages of 50 to 80 yrs) whose Director is Nima McElhinney, a generous benefactor and supporter of our Centre. We ask you to please bring a gift of warmth - socks, scarves, hats & mitts or gloves - for this group as part of gift packages we’re preparing for them this Christmas.
Remember – Holy Cross Lutheran Church is at 3455 Lakeshore Rd. just west of Walker’s Line in Burlington and has plenty of parking!
Please RSVP to Katie by emailing centreforcompassionandwisdom@cogeco.ca or call 905 296-3728 by Nov 30.
We hope to see you on Friday, December 7th!
Psst! - The Shop has just gotten a shipment of beautiful malas from Nepal, as well as being stocked with books, cards, cds and other gift items for that special friend on your Xmas list!
