Git Up To Speed: A GitHub Crash Course
Details
Most people who write code, at some point or another, have to commit it to a source repository like GitHub. Even those of us who do it for a living often have only an uneasy working relationship with the Git command-line tools, and the various ways you can branch, merge, and roll back code. So let us help!
Our awesome organizer, Jay Miller, is offering a hands-on workshop to get you comfortable with the basics of Git. Whether you've used it plenty before, or are new to the concept, you should still be able to get something out of it. Bring your laptop, and see you there!

LIGHTNING TALKS
Before our workshop content, we feature 5-minute lightning talks from anyone who'd like to share with us. We accept talks on any topic pertaining to technology (development, deployment, and so on), inclusion (social issues in tech), or community (grab-bag topics from community members).
No previous speaker experience is required. Priority will be given to speakers from under-represented backgrounds, but we welcome submissions from all intersections and experience levels.
Let us know if you'd like to speak!
SPEAKERS
--- WeAllJS is an experiment: We believe that the tech industry as a whole benefits when everyone has a seat at the table. We welcome anyone, on any intersection, who feels JavaScript is a part of their professional or personal life—whether you're a student or senior, developer or designer, using JS as your primary language or a hook into other tools.
WeAllJS events are supportive spaces. Our code of conduct (https://wealljs.org/code-of-conduct) pledges to make participation in our community a harassment-free experience, regardless of identity, ethnicity, or ability, and our enforcement philosophy (http://wealljs.org/enforcement) prioritizes empathy and assumes good intent when conflict arises. This applies to our Slack community (http://wealljs.org) as well.
Our meetings are at 6:30pm on the 2nd Thursday of every month, at LEARN academy in the East Village.
