Whiskey Creek in Dania Beach is one of the easiest-to-reach places to get out in a kayak and get your nature fix.
Whiskey Creek is a narrow, lush tidal waterway lined with mangroves that serves as a manatee sanctuary. It parallels the beach and the Intracoastal for about a mile and a half and the only visible signs of humans are a few footbridges that provide beach access.
Lots of wildlife to see and maybe even a manatee. Plus lots of shade to relax in. This has to be done at high tide as the creek is very shallow so I've set a time where the tide will be high.
If you bring your own kayak, like I do, use the boat ramp, make a right, and paddle a very short distance over to the Whiskey Creek Hideout (http://whiskeycreekhideout.com/recreation/) and meet up with the folks renting their kayaks.
