Our Talks

Confident Design Every Time - Maria Gosur

"Design" is a term that is thrown around in a variety of contexts. It can mean different things to different people, and it can be daunting knowing where to start designing at times.

How can you be sure your design is going in the right direction? What are the design aspects we should be attending to when measuring a project's success? How can we be confident that our design solution meets the needs of both our client and their target audience? Get a quick glimpse into the answers to these questions in this lightning talk.

Maria Gosur is a full-time web designer/developer at Schoolcraft College and has taught at multiple colleges in the same field. In addition, she is an independent web and graphic designer, entrepreneur co-founder of LivWel (https://livwel.co/), and a Masters student at the University of Michigan School of Information studying Human Computer Interaction. Device Frame, A11Y, & Color Picker AKA My Top 3 Chrome Dev Tools…so far. - Chris Demars (https://twitter.com/saltnburnem)

Chrome Dev tools are super powerful and plentiful. In this talk, I'll highlight the three that I just can't live without.

"Hyphen, En dash, or Em dash, oh my!" - Katherine Fox (https://www.meetup.com/refreshdetroit/members/202406865/)

Here lies the beat-up, broken-hearted, broad-shouldered, and nearly-departed hyphen! Learn about when to use the hyphen, the em dash, or the en dash.
