Join us for screening of "Nicky's Family". This is the third in a series of films by Slovak director Matej Minac dealing with the extraordinary story of Nicholas Winton and his heroic efforts to save hundreds of children from peril in the Nazi-occupied Czechoslovakia.
A young British stockbroker finds himself in Prague at the onset of the German invasion. Spurred into action by the plight of the Jews, “Nicky” Winton organizes an ad-hoc operation that saves over 600 Jewish children, bringing them to England in the nick of time.
This movie is the story of the children “Nicky” has saved as, decades later, they first discover the series of events that led to their rescue by an anonymous patron. Audience Award Winner at the 2011 Karlovy Vary Film Festival, Czech republic.
We’ve had the chance to see the previous two movies during screenings organized by CSHA for our members and community. They were "All My Loved Ones" and "Nicholas Winton - The Power of Good" which we were showing in fall 2008. “Nicky’s Family” was shown at the Philadelphia Jewish Film Festival in January last year.
Philadelphia Hon. Consul of the Czech Republic, Mr. Peter Rafaeli who worked tirelessly on introducing a book and Minac’s movies on Winton’s to the American audience will introduce the film.
