Taxes for Peace Bill - Time to pay taxes with a clear conscience
Many people accept that economic decisions - no matter how small - have consequences. In recent years we've seen rocketing demand for ethical products - whether they are fair trade coffee, ethical pensions or managing our day-to-day consumption to minimise climate change.
Despite this, many of us pay our taxes with the full knowledge that some of that money will be used to deliberately end human life.
Conscience: Taxes for Peace Not War is teaming up with Global Net 21 to discuss the issues behind a new bill being tabled in Parliament that would enable conscientious objectors to redirect the military portions of our taxes toward non-violent means of protecting our national security.
This would enable recognition of conscientious objector status in the modern context where war is primarily waged with money, rather than manpower.
Conscience will be joined by Ruth Cadbury MP and other guests to TBC.
If you would like to attend please do RSVP – spaces are strictly limited.
