GAAD 2020: Neurodiverse Superpowers Meet XR

Details
Global Accessibility Awareness Day #GAAD2020 Miami/Ft. Lauderdale
IxDA Miami is excited to host a special program in celebration of Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD) 2020. This year, we’re bringing together some of Southeast Florida’s technology and disability inclusion leaders with a spotlight on enhancing human abilities using XR technology. In this special virtual event, we’ll spotlight work being done in Southeast Florida to make inclusive XR experiences that can help improve the workplace inclusion of autistic and neurodiverse people.
Speakers include:
Claudio Luis Vera will talk about the social model of disability
Bill Curtis-Davidson will promote autism acceptance and give a snapshot of how XR (VR / AR / Mixed Reality) applications might be used to support people who are neurodiverse.
Santiago Bolivar will discuss how his organization, Dan Marino Foundation, is using XR technologies to help autistic and neurodiverse students develop workplace skills.
Chris Stegner will present a case study of his firm’s work for Dan Marino Foundation’s first-ever web-based VR product, a mock interview experience for young autistic adults.
Given the COVID-19 pandemic, this will be an all-virtual event that should have the ancillary benefit of allowing more people to attend while staying #SafeAtHome.
The event will be held on Google Meet:
