WTF is an NFT?

This summer Visa and Budweiser made waves by jumping into the non-fungible token market. Christie's and Sotheby's auctioned off NFTs for millions of dollars earlier this summer, and they have more slated for the fall. Your techie or art friends might not be able to shut up about them.

But WTF is an NFT? Maybe you already know it has something to do with the blockchain or that there are people buying JPEGs of pixelated cats on the internet for the prices of houses. So what actually is this thing that brings together techies, artists, and speculators to create value?

Join us on September 29 as we take a deep dive into the world of non-fungible tokens. We'll give you an overview of NFTs, why they truly are groundbreaking technology, and what the current trends are. Going from "What is an NFT?" to "What is someone actually buying when they buy an NFT?" to "How can I make an NFT?," we'll bring you up to date so you can understand this fascinating world.

This session will be led by Jason Fleischer, co-organizer of the chapter and co-founder of ponderware, the creator of MoonCatRescue, one of the first generative NFTs on the Ethereum blockchain from 2017.
