This is the first in-person meeting hosted by the West Coast Youth for Ecocide Law group, though people of all ages are welcome to attend. This will be a chance to meet some friendly folks who have a passion for environmentalism, activism and making a difference.

Never heard of Ecocide Law? Don't worry, this is perfect meeting to learn about this international movement that's got real traction! 'Ecocide' is the mass destruction of ecosystems, which shockingly, is currently not a crime. We aim to have ecocide added to the Rome Statute, under the International Criminal Court, alongside genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity, and crimes of aggression, as one of the worst crimes against peace - and we are already part way to achieving our goal! This could shift things dramatically for anyone and everyone who is campaigning for climate and environmental justice, social justice and human rights. Interested in learning more? Let's meet up!

The format for the meeting is as follows:

  • Turn up at 12:45 and grab a coffee/hot chocolate/snack. Take a few minutes for some introductions and to get to know people
  • Some icebreaker games
  • A quick intro on the background of the Stop Ecocide movement
  • A deeper, open group discussion on some aspects of Ecocide Law
  • An update on activities undertaken by the group, and areas where there is opportunity to get involved

We'll be meeting at Waves Coffee House (see map) at 12:45 pm, and we have the small meeting room booked from 1pm - 2pm so that we have some privacy. See you there! Please RSVP on Meetup so we know you are attending.
