Within the Controlled Environment Agriculture space, many farms are priced out of the existing automation equipment due to price or overly long ROIs and are left mostly using hand tools. Rooted Robotics is opening up this middle market with smaller, modular machines that are easily upgraded to fit larger operations as well. Their product line includes automated seeders, harvesters, and tray washers that are cost-effective, easy to implement, and scalable to meet the evolving needs of farms.

Their target market is small to medium-sized CEA farms in the US that need affordable automation solutions capable of scaling with their operations and are willing to invest in equipment that ensures quick ROI and long-term flexibility.

Their competition includes other equipment OEMs such as Hamill, Urbanati, TTA, and Adept Ag, all of which offer various automation solutions for the CEA industry.

Rooted Robotics' competitive advantage lies in their focus on providing modular, low-cost automation solutions that are easily upgradable, offering a quicker ROI compared to other options available in the market.

The market size for CEA equipment is estimated to be 7.8 Billion in 2024.

Top 3 challenges:

  • Educating potential customers on the benefits and ROI of automation.
  • Competing with well-established players in the market.
  • Scaling production while maintaining affordability and product quality.

Our 1MC Ask: Rooted Robotics seeks feedback on identifying the most suitable types of investors to approach and how to tailor their pitch to resonate with these investors, particularly those interested in agriculture technology, sustainability, and scalable solutions for small to medium-sized farms.
