Perfect Weather Memorial Weekend Sta. Paula Waterfalls and Natural Waterslides!

Details
We had to cancel this one last month because of the rain, but what do you know? This was all part of a bigger plan, because now we’re going the day before Memorial Day, and the weather is going to be PERFECT (sunny, high 70’s!). Little did you know that, when I ordered the rain, I had something even better in mind for us! ;-)
This is a SUPER-FUN, beautiful moderate hike to a gorgeous rock pool and waterfall, where we can swim, jump in, and, as if that wasn't fun enough, go down natural waterslides!
The water levels should still be high, the pools should still be clean, and the waterslides should be perfect. Sounds like the perfect Memorial Day Sunday to me!
THE PLAN
I’m purposefully scheduling this a little later in the morning, because it’s a bit of a drive. We will meet at the trailhead at 10:00 am, and leave. That's it. Can't get much simpler than that. :-D
Plan to arrive early, because the parking lot gets full, so you might have to park as far as 10 minutes away from the trailhead.
Here is the carpool list if you want to offer to drive, or want join a carpool.
The hike is just over 3.5 miles each way, with about 1,000 feet elevation gain, so it should take us about 1.5 to 2 hours each way. If you guys know me, I'm all about fun and spontaneity. I don't want to plan the exact length of time to stay there, but it'll probably be between one and two hours. We'll have fun until we are done, and then head back.
We should be back at the trailhead at around 4-5pm. We'll probably be hungry after all that fun, so we can drive to Ojai and grab something to eat. Pizza and ice cream sounds good right about now!
BRING
- Swimsuit
- Water shoes. I don't remember if we get wet when climbing the rocks to get to the waterslide, so it's probably a good idea to bring shoes that are good for hiking, but can also get wet. I'm wearing my hiking boots or shoes, but will also bring some Tevas.
- Water. At least two liters.
- Snacks, etc.
- Readiness to have A LOT of fun! :-)
DISCLAIMER
Some websites say the hike is moderate, and some say it's moderately hard. I was there a long time ago, so I don't remember, but it mustn't have been very hard, otherwise I would remember it. Having said that, I don't recommend that you come if you are not in at least OK hiking shape, or are ready to take a long time to get there. :-D
All right! See you guys there!
Eduardo.
