What we’re about

We only read one book per month, and have our discussion of said book on the third Sunday evening at 6:00-8:00 p.m. For the last couple of years we have been meeting via zoom, and will probably continue to do so although we have decided to have some in-person meetups once in a while.

I have published a few Classic book reading lists. The first was the 100 Most Popular Classics. I have also published a list of 500 popular classics, as well as a 250 Canadian Literature Reading List. You will find links to all of these below, as well as links to a couple of my “musing” articles. I publish a musing article whenever the spirit moves me now, and it is posted under the “About” tab on the main meetup page.

I intend to publish a couple more lists; 1) The Great Works of the Western World; and 2) Greek and Latin Classics. The way our club works is the organizer for that month will often create a book poll of five choices around a particular theme, or simply just pick a book. It doesn’t have to be from our 100 Most Popular Classics list. It simply has to be considered a classic of literature.

We have read 25 of these 100 most popular books as a club. This includes 8 of the top 10; 13 of the top 20; and 17 of the top 30 books. I personally have only read 40 of these 100 most popular classics. Message me if you have any other questions.
Thanks to Co-Organizer Mark for writing this and for leading this group for so long. Mark will still be leading his share of book discussions, so we are fortunate for that.
I am your new Organizer, well, not really new, just new to this position. I look forward to it and to getting to know you as we discuss the books each month.
Barb
Thanks also to Mark for all that follows.
