Debate: Truth Is Objective

Details

Is Truth truly independent of our beliefs, or is it always filtered through culture, language, and perspective?

Some argue that truth corresponds to reality – unchanging and absolute, like mathematical facts. Yet others suggest what we call "Truth" is shaped by personal and societal context. Can moral or aesthetic truths ever be objective, or are they inherently subjective?

And even if objective truth exists, can we as humans ever access it without bias?

These questions lie at the heart of a long-standing philosophical debate.

Join the discussion at our next meeting on the motion: This House Believes Truth Is Objective.

During the first half of the meeting, there will be an improvised mini-debate session, where anyone may get called to defend or oppose a motion in 2 minutes (voluntarily, of course).

During the main debate, 3 debaters will propose the motion, 3 debaters will oppose it, and YOU may give your opinion during Floor Contributions.

The meeting will be held on the first floor of the Windsor Castle pub in Victoria, a beautiful Victorian pub with great food, drinks and reasonable prices. Make sure to give the code word: Debate Club!
