Our Speaker

Shimrit (Shimi) Yacobi, Sr. Grommet Core Developer and Community Manager @Grommet.io.

A self-professed health nut, scuba diver, and a Colorado hiker and runner, Shimi is coming to us from Colorado where she is part of the Hewlett Packard Enterprise Experience Studio.

Shimi grew up in the Middle East where she received her engineering education. She is excited to now work where she is focused on making the vision of a design-drive user experience a reality.

As a Community Manager of more than 2.5k users, she loves working closely with other developers and designers throughout the world to collaborate, learn, consult and grow.

About the topic

Grommet is an open source UI development and design tool developed by Hewlett Packard Enterprise and is based on the ReactJS framework. It enjoys a large following both within HPE and the open source community including companies such as Netflix, Uber, Twilio, Shopify and Sony.

Join us for a talk and a workshop that delves into the libraries and tools that build the ReactJs open-source framework and outlines how users experience Grommet. Topics covered include the use of styled-components, storybook, themes and branding, bit.dev, chromatics, and type-script. We’ll also highlight the impact the community has in Grommet’s development, including tools selection and roadmap priorities.
