Details
Gorges, waterfalls and outstanding beauty define the Finger Lakes Region. Carved by glaciers and scoured by streams this landscape is the iconic wine country we know in New York. Glaciers moved through shallow river valleys leaving in its place deep, steep-sided gouges across the plateau. When the glaciers receded 10,000 years ago, water filled these new troughs, creating the 11 Finger Lakes. Streams and waterfalls cut away at sedimentary rock to form our beautiful and unique gorges.
