Our Christmas Past starts with a stroll down Memory Lane as we visit the Holiday Light Show from Wanamaker's, now Macys, where the original organ still plays. Remember the Dickens Christmas Village from Strawbridge's at 8th and Market? It's back at Macy's, too. Now a holiday mainstay, the 6,000-square-foot Dickens Village takes Philadelphians back in time to 1840s London with 26 heart-warming scenes setting the stage for the classic story of Scrooge. Take photos with Father Christmas and pick up holiday trinkets.

We begin our day witnessing the light show at Macy's with a brief visit to Dickens Christmas Village. .

Our next stop will be our Christmas Future - the high tech, high def extravaganza of The Comcast Holiday Spectacular at The Comcast Center.
Other cities have ice skating rinks, festooned store windows and soaring Christmas trees.
But Philadelphia has something all its own.
Celebrating its fifth year, the Comcast Holiday Spectacular (http://www.visitphilly.com/museums-attractions/philadelphia/the-comcast-holiday-spectacular/) returns to Philadelphia for the 2012 holiday season.
The high-tech holiday show screens classic holiday images including enchanting scenes from The Nutcracker performed by the renowned Pennsylvania Ballet, a magical sleigh ride through the snow-covered Pennsylvania countryside into Center City Philadelphia and performances by some of Broadway’s best-known dancers all on the Comcast Center’s Comcast Experience video wall (http://www.visitphilly.com/museums-attractions/philadelphia/comcast-experience-video-wall-comcast-center/), the world’s largest four-mm LED video display with incredible resolution that’s five times that of an HDTV.
It’s one of the most exciting aspects of the holiday season in Philadelphia, and one we can truly call uniquely ours.

We will then take a brief stroll over to Love Park, our final stop - the home of the Christmas Village extravaganza, our Christmas Present. Here you may shop to your heart's content marveling at the wide and unique varieties of international goodies, one of a kind ornaments and Christmas wunderkind.

Christmas Village in Philadelphia is an outdoor Holiday market event at Love Park Plaza. Vendors in more than 60 wooden booths and a big tent which form a nice little village sell European food, sweets and drinks as well as international seasonal holiday gifts, ornaments and high quality arts and crafts. The Village is modeled on the example of German Christmas Markets. Christmas Market events like the famous and most traditional Christkindlmarket in Nuremberg follow a long tradition of farmers markets in Germany's inner cities.

Within this village, you'll find a wide variety of seasonal goods that you won't find anywhere else. Aside from our local vendors, we have German vendors selling Christmas decorations from genuine Erzgebirge, nativity sets, glass ornaments in assorted sites, toys, jewelry and so much more.
The smell of the specialty foods being sold at the booths attract visitors throughout the day. Among the specialty dishes are classic German Bratwurst with Sauerkraut, various soups, crepes, waffles, strudels, and of course Gluhwine (a spiced mulled wine)!

Thousands of lights at booths and trees integrate Love Park into a winter wonderland of shops, food and sounds. Christmas Village offers its visitors a unique opportunity for shopping and enjoying European specialties in a Christmassy atmosphere. Sixty booths and two timber houses form a little Village and offer a wide and attractive range of seasonal goods which cannot be found anywhere else besides the market.

Thirteen outdoor booths will sell food specialties: bratwursts and grilled steaks, potato pancakes, crepes, soups and pretzels.Booths for ornaments, specific ethnic minority offerings, candles, nativity sets, teas and spices, toys, woolens and jewelry with their relation to the winter and holiday season guarantee a high quality assortment in Christmas Village in Philadelphia. There will be vendors of German Christmas decoration from genuine Erzgebirge, nativity sets from Bethlehem/Israel, glass ornaments, ceramic light houses, model trains, lace, spices, jewelry and a lot more. The unique atmosphere with thousands of lights, the big Holiday Tree, the delicious smell of waffles, gingerbread, bratwurst and mulled wine will bring you into the perfect Christmas mood.A central stage will be the place for live performances of local choirs, orchestras and bands.
