ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

Have you ever wanted to learn how to incorporate maps into your website? In this workshop we'll be discussing various mapping functions using the Google Maps API and some alternatives such as Mapbox and geocode.earth. The functionality to be covered includes embedding a map and displaying your own data, geocoding addresses, and calculating driving directions. We'll rely on publicly-available data from DelDOT and DNREC for the coding exercises. No programming experience is needed, though it will be helpful. This is a hands-on workshop in Javascript so if you're interested in coding along, bring a laptop!

This location is accessible to persons having disabilities. Any person having special needs or requiring special aid, such as an interpreter for the hearing impaired, is requested to contact DelDOT by phone at 1-800-652-5600 or by mail to DelDOT Community Relations, P.O. Box 778, Dover, DE 19903

ABOUT THE OPEN DATA CHALLENGE

From February through May, we'll be hosting a series of workshops and events focused on making Delaware the most accessible state in the country in partnership with DelDOT and DNREC. We call this the Open Data Challenge.

The Open Data Challenge culminates in a "Data Jam", a month long hackathon where teams build working prototypes and have the opportunity to win cash prizes for their work. You can get more information by visiting OpenDataChallenge.com.
