2018 Open Data Challenge: Ideation Session

ABOUT THE IDEATION SESSION

Ideation Sessions are designed to find creative solutions to problems through a series of exercises focused on "divergent" and "convergent" thinking. These exercises help people to think about problems in different ways and, potentially, find non-obvious solutions to challenges. Ideation helps teams to:

• Ask the right questions and innovate
• Step beyond obvious solutions
• Bring together different perspectives
• Uncover unexpected areas of innovation
• Create volume and variety in your innovation options

Expect an interactive session filled with teamwork, brainstorming, and giant Post-it Notes. Our facilitator, Zach Jones, will guide small teams through ideation exercises. The day will look close to this (though is subject to change):

1:00 pm - Registration & Mingling
1:15 pm - Welcome
1:30 pm - Ideation Begins!
2:30 pm - Break
2:40 pm - Ideation Resumes!
3:40 pm - Break
3:50 pm - Ideation Wraps Up!
4:50 pm - Closing

If you're not sure that you're qualified to participate...we promise, you are! How do we know this? Here are a few guiding questions to see if you're qualified:

• Have you ever been outside?
• Have you ever travelled anywhere?
• Have you ever been to Delaware?
• Do you want to help your community?

If you can answer "yes" to any of those questions, then you're qualified to join us. Ideation Sessions are best when people with different experiences who have different perspectives work together. This Ideation Session is no different!

ABOUT THE OPEN DATA CHALLENGE

From February through May, we'll be hosting a series of workshops and events focused on making Delaware the most accessible state in the country in partnership with DelDOT and DNREC. We call this the Open Data Challenge.
