Are drug and digital pornography addiction fundamentally one disorder?

November's topic will be conducted by Bro. Sandy McKeown in a study of Freemasonry discusses the question: "Are drug and digital pornography addiction fundamentally one disorder?"

Synopsis:
In this MPS we will look at addictions, specifically, drug and digital pornography. In terms of scale, the negative consequences of nicotine and alcohol far surpass the damage inflicted by illicit drugs. But drug addicts are treated as outcasts. Perhaps the current concept of addiction is ill-founded and society has a responsibility to be empathetic in its approach to drug addicts. Decriminalization and the controlled distribution of drugs may be the foundation for a new direction. The digital porn addict is the most current addiction. There are biological similarities between the drug and porn addict. What is the price to pay for this seemingly ‘private’ addiction? All viewpoints are welcome as the group discusses and debates the cause and future of addictions.
