Bruidhnidh sinn! (Let's talk!) VIRTUAL MEETUP #01
Details
***EDIT*** Foolishly, it didn't register that Monday the 29th is Memorial Day, so switching to Monday the 5th. Hope to connect then!****
Halo, a charaidean! (Hello, friends!)
NESG's 1st virtual meetup will occur on Monday the 5th of June at 7pm - Sgoinneil!
I'll post a link to either a Zoom or Google Meet just before the event starts. Note: The problem with Zoom is it's a bit pricey for me just at the moment, but if you don't buy it you get automatically booted at the 45-minute mark. Not that you can't maybe rejoin it or create another link and join that one (we could try that), but unless Google Meet is just a non-starter for folks, let's stick with it for the moment.
So here's what the event will look like:
- Introductions and greetings! Optional shares could be any number of the following: who you are, where you're from, what interests you about Gaelic, what level you are and what your goals might be, anything else interesting!
- Watching some (short) Gaelic with Jason videos. Jason's our own New England certified Gaelic instructor and has a great website with materials that are super fun and approachable. He uses the "TPRS method," which we'll talk about briefly, but in a nutshell it's way more fun than traditional language learning.
- Many of us were raised with the exclamation: Na bi gòrach (Don't be silly), but we'll aim to be gu tur gòrach (completely silly) and try to utilize what we've learned from the videos for as long as it's fun!
That's it for now - hope to see some of you at the 1st virtual event!
Mòran taing,
Ceil (Kel)
