Explore Anawan Rock and Squannakonk Swamp with Don Doucette
Details
Anawan Rock is historically significant as the site of one of the closing confrontations of King Philip's War and as one of the few incidents for which an exact location is known. Anawan Rock overlooks Squannakonk Swamp, not far from the village of Rehoboth, where Anawan and his warriors hid from Benjamin Church and his militia. Join Sowams Heritage Area Coordinator Dave Weed and Naturalist Don Doucette to learn about and explore this unique location from the 17th century. Bring your hiking shoes! (Masks are required and we will be socially distanced. Heavy rain cancels event.)
