  • No Limits! Using custom themes to create beautiful visualizations with ggplot2
    Mike Moore

  • Building Your First Shiny Database Application
    Matt Sharkey
The DBI and dplyr packages have made Shiny database integration easier. R users can now build database web-apps without having to switch IDEs or write complex SQL. The efficiency gains are nice, but knowledge of these tools alone is not enough. Shiny developers can improve app performance with a little database fundamentals.

For this presentation , I will discuss what R users need to know about database design, how to handle untrusted data, and dplyr anti-patterns.

  • Scalable Shiny at RStudio
    Tim Mastny
Recent advances make Shiny more scalable than ever, and new testing suites can ensure the stability and usability of applications. In this talk, I’ll share what I learned while interning on the Shiny team at RStudio. We’ll look at new features like promises and caching that can improve server performance, as well as Shiny app testing through shinytest and shinyloadtest.

  • Using Shiny to Develop an Interactive Benchmarking Tool
    UNL Bureau of Business Research
Students from the UNL Bureau of Business Research have used Shiny to develop an interactive benchmarking tool for regions in Nebraska. Ultimately, the tool will provide comparisons between Nebraska regions and areas in other states along several dimensions. Students from the UNL BBR will present the Shiny application which contains the data used to identify the comparison regions.
