Friendships with Deep Connection and Soul

This week's topic:
Friendships with Deep Connection and Soul
We can have 500 friends on Facebook but feel very alone, we might have friends to go out with but for years have not been able to build a deeper connection. In other situations, we are deeply hurt because our "friends" did not show up when we needed them.
Most of us long for connection and belonging, but it takes a lot of courage and humility to master the art of friendship.
I love what Jennie Allen writes "We can't be close to a dozen people. We don't have time. Therefore, we need to choose 2-5 people, out of that village, who you'll see on a weekly or twice a week basis. First, you don't have to have everything in common. In fact, you probably won't and you shouldn't.
Some questions to consider:
- What does friendship mean to me?
- What works for you in building meaningful connections?
- What are some of the things that have not worked out?
- Can mix-gender friendships work in your experience?
- How am I intentionally building deep connection?
- Do I know how I sometimes "sabotage" because I am afraid?
- Do I blame the "other" people out there for my lack of deep connection?
My hope for this evening is that we can encourage each other in our pursuit of deep connection, not so much looking to focus on knowledge but would much rather be interested in you, and your heart.
