Ring out 2018 - Practical Julia Development

Details
2018 has been a standout year for our London user group, as well as for the wider Julia ecosystem. The release of v1.0 during JuliaCon in London was a seminal event. The user group itself has grown immensely, with regular, well-attended meetups. So thank you to all who came, spoke and helped at our events this year -- we appreciate you all.
For our last event this year, we turn our attention to some of the practical processes of developing our applications with Julia.

Malcolm Sherrington has been the primary organiser of the London Julia meetup group, and the author of a popular introductory book about Julia. He will talk about his experience in upgrading existing code to Julia 1.0. Possibly this talk may be alleviate any frustrations in the process, with Malcolm having taken it on your behalf!
Zac Nugent is one of the primary developers of the julia-vscode extension, which is one of many environments available to develop your Julia projects. Powering it is an ecosystem of packages designed to reinterpret source code in a variety of ways intending to help you write more readable code with fewer errors, more quickly. In this talk he'll start by briefly describing the features of julia-vscode and the roles played by the packages: CSTParser, LanguageServer, DocumentFormat, and StaticLint. The aim of the project is to perform real-time (per keystroke) analysis of code and we’ll look at the approaches used, and the challenges involved. He'll finish up with a description of future development plans.
We will have some seasonal food and drinks to start the evening. Hope to see many of you there.
