StoryTelling Event: Moth StorySLAM (Prompt - Adulting)
Details
Hello!
I want to start adding storytelling events to our group. I thought I start off with Moth StorySLAM event. The Moth StorySLAM events are open mic storytelling competitions open to everyone. For the StorySLAM, ten participants are chosen at random from a pool of volunteer storytellers to tell a true story (without notes) in the five minute range. Each event has a prompt, for October it is Adulting. Note: if you don't volunteer your name, you won't be called to go up. Storytellers are scored based on the content of their stories, and their storytelling abilities, by three teams of judges—selected from audience members—on a scale from one to ten.
I have gone to a handful before and they are fun! The stories tend to be a mix of sweet and funny. Let's meet at 6:30pm there so we can grab seats. Please note, you have to buy your own ticket (~$15) but it won't be available until 2 weeks before the event. I will send out an email when the tickets are available.
If you are interested in coming up with a story to volunteer then here is the prompt. We will be meeting the week before if anyone wants to bring a story and read the book You: The Story.
Adulting: Prepare a five-minute story about the highs and lows of coming of age and the trials and tribulations of getting there. Old enough to know better or wishing someone else would grow the heck up. Faking it 'til you make it, rites of passage and the great onslaught of responsibility. You know what they say: age is just a number.
