Food & Coat Drive

This is not a hiking event but a collection drive. Respond YES only if you are donating and indicate on your RSVP comment whether you are donating food, coats or both. We will continually post in the event details here the total actual collection made. We will also post the groups we are sending the items to once we finalized the details.

Do you have winter coats that you're not wearing anymore, or that you or a family member has outgrown? Do you have excess non-perishable food left on your pantries? Or can you spare a few dollars to buy some basic non-perishable food on sale during this season? There are many homeless and poor people out there who are in need of these items. So, let's extend the spirit of this group to our less fortunate brothers and sisters. Help them by donating food and coats this winter.

For the coats, please make sure that it is in good or useable condition. Take out the dirt if any, and patch them up if they are not quite in tip-top shape. If possible, try to sew on any missing buttons, fix broken zippers or at least just be sure to give the coats a good wash so they look and smell clean.

All of our upcoming hikes are geared to support this important drive. If possible, bring something during each event that you are attending. You can hand-in your donations to the hike organizer at the trailhead.

You can also give your donations to any members of the core team. If you cannot come on any of the scheduled hikes, we ask that you coordinate with the core team or other members so we all can work out a possible drop-off or pickup. We're sure that there are members around or near your area who can help in the collection.

This is an intra-meetup drive. We are collaborating with other friend groups in meetup. We are all members of the outdoor community. Through this effort we continue to connect with each other and stand united to support those who are in need.
