Hike #46 - I haven't scheduled many hikes this summer due to travelling and dealing with a knee injury, but hopefully this is the first of many hikes in the next few months. I SCOUTED THIS OUT TODAY. INSTEAD OF THE LOOP YOU CAN SEE IN THE PHOTO ABOVE, WE WILL HIKE UP AND DOWN THE LEFT SIDE OF THE LOOP ONLY, SO AN OUT AND BACK TO GOAT PEAK AND THE SAME TRAIL THAT I HIKED TODAY TO AND FROM WILL ROGERS. IT’LL BE ABOUT 7 MILES AND SHOULD TAKE 3.5 HRS. This hike has nothing to do with the trail in Temescal Canyon that hundreds of people jam every weekend other than we start at the same place. If we see more than ten people on this trail, I'll be stunned. We will meet at the picnic tables outside the Temescal Camp Store. Please bring two liters of water and snacks (and you will be able to get more water from a fountain at Will Rogers Park by the polo field), and be prepared (hat and sunscreen) to hike on trails largely exposed to sun. This is a moderate hike, but there will be some steep parts. HIKING SHOES OR TRAIL RUNNERS WITH GRIP HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, AND HIKING POLES ADVISED.
Free parking on Sunset or Temescal and quarter-mile walk into the park, or pay to park in one of the lots in the park. Just be keenly aware of all Stop signs in the park if you decide to drive in. They have cameras and you will get a ticket if you don't completely stop at each one.
Plan will be to pick a place to grab lunch afterwards for those interested.
Donation of $2 to pay for this meetup page much appreciated.
